Requirements for JAL-CON Representatives (JRs)

Any Al-Anon or Alateen member who is willing to represent the group is eligible to serve as JAL-CON Representative (JR). JR's should have a basic knowledge of Al Anon and Alateen principles and how they work. It is suggested that the JR attend the New Jersey Al Anon Convention, JAL-CON.

Term

Each JR is elected by his/her group for a three year term (see the Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual, Structure of the Al-anon/Alateen Fellowship section, for information about electing group representatives.)

Duties

Attends the JAL-CON Annual meeting as a voting member representing his/her group. (If the JR cannot attend, an alternate should attend in his/her place.)

Keeps members informed about information from the Annual Meeting including:

Registration instructions and deadlines

bullet

Requests for volunteers to help at the convention

bullet

Requests for raffle donations from the group

bullet

Encourages members to attend JAL-CON

Dates to Remember

JAL-CON Annual Meeting (usually a Saturday in April)

bullet

JAL-CON, New Jersey’s Al Anon Convention (usually the last weekend in July)

Tips on Reporting Back to Your Group

Take notes at the annual meeting.

Request time from your group to offer a report.

Be brief.

bullet

Be enthusiastic.

bullet

Focus on group needs.
