New Jersey Al-Anon & Alateen

The Al-Anon/Alateen Information Service of North Jersey services the following counties of New Jersey: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren.

The purposes of NJIS are:

1. To encourage growth of the Al-Anon/Alateen Family Group program in the 12 Counties of New Jersey listed above.

2. To provide an opportunity for the exchange of Group ideas.

3. To conduct special events in accord with, and in the furthering of, these purposes, as approved by the Representatives.

4. To maintain a central business office which shall serve as a communication center for member groups and a clearinghouse for Al-Anon activities, including the handling of all requests from persons seeking help for themselves.

5. To be guided in all activities by the twelve suggested Steps, Traditions and Concepts of Al-Anon.

Any Al-Anon Family Group or Alateen Group residing within the Counties serviced may become a member group by informing NJIS through a group data sheet. Each Member Group shall elect a Representative and an Alt. Representative (with the right of succession) for a 2 yr term. Members may represent only one group at a time.

Representatives

I. S. R.s (Information Service Representatives), in meeting, shall be the source of all official action, except in matters entrusted to the Steering Committee.

Duties of the ISRs or in their absences, the Alternates, are as follows:

1. To attend all ISR Meetings.

2. To act as liaison between the Information Service and their one specific Member Group.

3. To vote at the ISR meetings (only ISRs, or in their absences, the Alternates, can vote:. Normally the ISR may vote without group consultation, except in specific instances when Group consultation is requested by the Steering Committee Chairperson or Acting Chairperson.

4. The ISRs shall elect a Steering Committee, said Committee consisting of Rotating Officers, Elevating Officers, Chairpersons of Committees, Members-at-Large, Honorary Pro-Tem Members, and one Alateen Representative, said members having at least one year active participation in the Al-Anon program.

LDC hours are from 10 AM to 3PM. We sell the same literature as the WSO, at the same cost, but with quicker service.
